CHANGES FOR 2014:
- Redesigned model.
The Stingray is back! The name, last used in 1976, is back and featured prominently on the new Corvette for 2014. The traditional round taillights are gone (you can thank the designer of the Pontiac Aztec for that) and a new engine, the LT1, is now the base choice. For the new generation, the only models available are the base coupe and convertible. But, fret not, there is a Z07 and other derivatives on the way. Just wait a year or two.
Transmissions are new, too. Gone is the six-speed manual in favour of a seven-speed row-your-own cogswapper. An upgraded manual is available with the Z51 performance package. An automatic is still an option, but makes due with six sprockets.
Corvette Stingray is available in three trims: 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT.
In 1LT trim, features include 6.2L LT1 V8 engine, seven-speed manual transmission with active rev matching, 8-inch colour touch-screen with Chevrolet MyLink, 8-way power seats, active handling, AM/FM/MP3/USB/SD audio with auxiliary input and satellite radio, Bluetooth phone and audio, capless fueling, colour cluster display, cruise control, dual power heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, HID headlights, electric locking glove box, keyless access with push button start, launch control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Moulan leather GT seats, OnStar, power four-way steering column, power windows (auto up/down), backup camera, body-colour carbon fibre removable roof panel, run flat tires, and TMPS.
2LT adds theft-deterrent system, auto-dimming mirrors, colour head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, luggage shade and net, memory package, performance leather GT seats with additional adjustment, premium Bose audio with 10 speakers, seat crossed flags logo badge, and universal home remote.
3LT adds custom leather wrapped instrument panel/doors/console, Napa leather GT seats, and navigation.
The Z51 Performance Package can be added to any trim. It includes larger wheels, tires, and brakes, enhanced cooling, electronic limited slip differential, dry sump oil system, performance gear ratios, and performance suspension. The package costs an additional $3,775.
